This is the story of how burnout, grief and self-trust led me from corporate life into rebirth and soul-led purpose.

In this conversation from the Wildly Awakened Woman Series by my wonderful coach Mel McIntyre, I share my journey of rebirth after decades in corporate life, profound personal loss, and the ache for something more. My story proves that renewal is always possible. This story is shared with gratitude and permission from Mel McIntyre’s Wildly Awakened Woman Series - see more on Mel’s website.

From Corporate Success to Burnout and Breakdown

For 24 years, Alvina thrived in the corporate world of compliance, operations, and risk management. Outwardly, she had it all: career progression, financial stability, the family and the home.

But inside? She was burnt out, disconnected, and carrying the weight of who she thought she “should” be.

Like so many women, she played the role of the good girl, excelling, performing, and over-delivering. Until the “record scratch moment” arrived: her husband’s sudden stage four cancer diagnosis.

In an instant, life was turned upside down. And Alvina was faced with the painful but powerful truth: life is too short to live out of alignment.

The Sacred Summons of Grief

Grief became Alvina’s teacher.

Between her husband’s illness, his passing, and the loss of her father, she was cracked open in ways she couldn’t have imagined.

“I had to learn to give myself what I needed. That’s how I found my strength.” – Alvina

Through slowing down, questioning old cycles, and allowing herself to feel deeply, she discovered a new path — one rooted not in performance or perfection, but in authenticity and soul-led purpose.

The Process of Becoming a Wildly Awakened Woman

Alvina’s story is not about one dramatic epiphany. It’s about the cycles of awakening that unfolded over time — moments of breaking, shedding, and reclaiming.

Through curiosity, journaling, energy work, and courageous self-trust, she began to:

  • Break free from generational and societal conditioning.

  • Reclaim her worth, her voice, and her power.

  • Anchor into joy, community, and alignment.

  • Step into her own definition of success.

This is the essence of the Wildly Awakened Woman: a leader who rises again and again, no matter her age or stage, embodying courage, truth, and bone-deep authenticity.

Why It’s Never Too Late

Alvina reminds us that every ending is also a beginning.

The practical step? Take a chance on yourself. Say yes, before your doubt talks you out of it.” – Alvina

Why I Created the Infinity & Flow Collective

This is why I founded the Infinity & Flow Collective, an online global community supporting women who feel unseen, exhausted and just over it all. Guiding them to feel alive and and reignite that inner spark that has been dimmed by the world around them.
